COLORING CONTEST FAVORITES

The favorite pictures have been chosen for the Library Coloring Contest.  There were so many great ones that I am glad I didn't have to pick the winners.  Patrons in the Library have voted on their favorites for the past few weeks.  I am going to post the pictures of the winning entries here.  I will be contacting the individual winners.

Thanks to everyone who participated.  You can come to the library at any time to pick up your picture.

New Picture

I had a picture sent to me of the Reptile Guy with Ethan, his volunteer, that turned out better than any that I took.

Summer Read Updates

It has been a few weeks since I have updated our blog.  All of the summer reading events so far have been great!  We have had great participation from everyone.  Here is a recap:

AMBER ART
Amber shared different things with the kids about art and showed them different types, then we broke the group into 3 and had them do different projects:  sidewalk chalk, clay, and scratch boards.  Here are a few examples:

Corbin Maxey, The Reptile Guy brought in a lot of his critters to show and put on a great production.  My picture of him did not turn out well but you can find more about him at www.corbinmaxey.com

We had Sandy Whitewinds here on Tuesday and the kids made jewelry.

Today was storyteller day at the Library.  Anette Alger and Darcy Holt came and shared stories with us.  I had some youth storytellers coming but the were unable to make it.

Thanks to everyone who had contributed to our summer reading program so far.  From all you kids to our sponsors and to all you parents, THANK YOU!

Next week we will be talking about constellations.  Hope to see you there.

SUMMER READ OFFICIALLY KICKED OFF TODAY!

We had an awesome turnout today for our first summer reading event.  Amber Cook did an awesome job presenting art to the kids and then we broke out into groups, one group went outside and did sidewalk art, one did sculpting with clay that Amber made, and the other group scratched a design on black board, then they rotated.  Here are some pictures of what the kids did.

Next week at the High School at 10 am for the Reptile Guy.  Hope you can all be there!
