Books Read:
PLAYFUL LITTLE PENGUINS by Tony Mitton
LOST AND FOUND by Oliver Jeffers
Pippa's Penguin by Susan M. Dailey (this was an online story)
Fingerplays:
Five Perky Penguins
Five perky penguins stood on the shore.
One went for a swim and then there were four.
four perky penguins looked out to sea.
one went swimming and then there were three
Three perky penguins, "What can we do?"
One jumped in the water and then there were two.
Two perky penguins sat in the sun.
One swam off and then there was one.
One perky penguin said, "This in no fun!"
He dived in the water and then there were none.
Two Little Penguins
Two little penguins sitting on the ice (hold up two fingers)
One bows once, the other bows twice (make fingers bow)
Waddle little penguins, waddle away. (put fingers behind back)
Come back penguins, time to play! (bring fingers to the front)
I found these on various sites. I need to do a better job of writing down exactly where I find them to make sure the credit goes to the correct person. I am not this creative!
We closed by singing "If your a Penguin and you Know It Waddle Like This"
Craft:
Simple craft today. I found an ABC dot to dot for a penguin for the kids to do and then color. I also gave the mom's a pattern to make a paper penguin puppet at home. It was a little to complicated to do in the storytime setting.
Thanks for viewing. Cya next week.
